A large quantity of fake coupons for money off well known brands has recently been discovered in Lancashire. The coupons appear to be copies of genuine coupons and were purchased by a Lancashire consumer over the internet. The consumer used the coupons in a supermarket to buy groceries but when the supermarket discovered the fakes, the Police were called and the consumer's groceries had to be returned to the store. Consumers are being warned that coupons available to buy on the internet may be fakes. If they are purchased and used to buy products in shops or supermarkets, consumers may find that they are trading an illegal product and may lose money.

Young Voices
52 children from the primary school went to the Manchester Arena to join the Young Voices Choir
of over 8000 young people! As usual, the
children sang really well and were a credit to the school. The whole
event was very exciting and the children were able to witness top class
professional musicians, singers and dancers in action. It was a special treat this year to sing
as backing singers to Stacey Solomon - the X Factor star who was this year's
star performer.
Free Bike Marking
Neighbourhood policing have been
fortunate to obtain funds from Lancashire County Council to purchase bike
marking kits from a national company, BikeRegister.com. They are offering
to security mark bicycles belonging to members of the public free of
charge. This is obviously open to you and members of your family. Just come along to Bolton-le-Sands Fire Station on Saturday February 15 between 11am and 1.00pm.
The BikeRegister.com scheme is
basically where a bicycle is given an ID number, the owner’s details are
registered and a log book created for the bicycle similar to a V5 log book
for a car. This log book is then
e-mailed to the owner. There are a
limited number of kits but the aim is to reach as many people as possible to
get their bicycles ID'd. This will
hopefully prevent crime as they are clearly marked to any bicycle thief and it
will also help the police identify owners of bicycles as and when they are
recovered.

Due to family relocation, Cllr Dani Khan has stepped
down as parish councillor and therefore a vacancy now exists for
Bolton-le-Sands Parish Council (South Ward).
Cllr Khan has made a valued contribution to the work of the parish
council especially the community playground project. On receipt of a notice signed by ten
electors of the parish requesting that the vacancy be filled by an election,
the Proper Officer will fix a date on which an election will be held. Any such notice must be served on the Proper
Officer at Lancaster Town Hall not later than 5.00pm on February 21.
The next regular meeting of the FOBLES committee
(everyone is welcome to attend) will be held on Thursday February 6 at 8.00pm in
The Royal Hotel, Bolton-le-Sands. This
year the FOBLES are aiming to raise sufficient money to buy a new stage system
for the school and a new lighting rig for the school hall. These
improvements will make a big difference to the life of the school.
Bolton-le-Sands Primary School has nominated
St John’s Hospice as its main school charity fundraiser.
Petsearch, a register of lost and found pets,
will be having a meeting at 2pm on Saturday February 15 at No 2 St Michaels
Crescent, Bolton-le-Sands. Volunteers
are needed to help run coffee mornings and table top sales throughout the
year. If you can offer assistance,
please ring 822518 or 823013.
