Important information from Lancashire County Council Trading Standards Service.

A report has been received of a Lancaster resident receiving an unsolicited email from someone purporting to be Maria Seto from the Sales Department, providing a draft Bill of Lading (which is basically a receipt of freight services) & a packing list and stating that she would email a copy of the commercial invoice tomorrow. The consumer had not bought any goods and was not expecting the delivery of any.  Trading Standards advice is to never give personal information or to pay over money in response to unsolicited emails.
If you receive an email which you suspect is bogus, speak to family or friends or the Citizens Advice consumer service (telephone 08454 04 05 06) and seek advice.

Lands End to John O'Groats Cycle Ride

Two fabulous dads (plus 6 other riders) has begun a cycle ride from Lands End to John O'Groats. The goal of the 930 mile ride will be to raise funds for St John's Hospice. The 9 day ride is being covered by The Bay radio station on a daily basis.  Mr Chris Spurr and Mr Jim Bousfield would be very grateful to anyone who is able to sponsor them.  This can be done via The Bay's website.

Alysia Gilda School of Dancing

The students of the have had a busy fortnight.  The Adult Ballet group performed a beautiful and elegant dance at the Marine Hall Fleetwood.  The Regional Keep Fit Association held their AGM and invited Alysia's ladies to be the guest item.  The younger pupils and adults had a great time at the Bolton-le-Sands Gala. It may have been wet but they were very happy performing a flashmob to a surprised audience in the Community Centre.  The classes continue with an examination session due in July.   Miss Gilda already has a waiting list for her classes in September.  From age 3yrs to 93yrs she has something for everyone.  Please telephone 822207 or facebook the Dance School for more information.

2020VISION - Street Gallery

The 2020VISION outdoor exhibition is now open 24/7 in Morecambe.  It's stunning and it's FREE. There's a special facebook page and many more 2020VISION events coming too.  Read about the movie, the theatre show, photo workshops, and the man himself...

The street gallery is in Morecambe until 29 June when it moves to Barrow and then to Grange.  As it is open 24/7 you can nip out over lunch or after dinner.  And it makes a great half-term trip: bike on the prom, visit the street gallery, enjoy the views across the Bay, and there's lots of lovely options for tea, cake and ice-cream really nearby.

Community Playground Project Update

After a couple of setbacks the playground refurbishment is now making good steady progress.
A fantastic boost to funds has come from members of Carnforth Rotary Club who, with match funding from Rotary District 1190, have generously contributed £5,000 to purchase the Hide & Slide item of play equipment. Their support is greatly appreciated.
The Mike Rigby Bowls Trophy raised £316 for the playground, many thanks to Bowling Club members for their efforts and to Sheila Rigby for nominating Community Playground Project to be the recipient of funds raised.
An application for a grant to Lancaster Green Spaces for £500 towards the cost of trees was successful and Lancaster Community Fund has donated £500 towards the project.
After a successful, well supported year of fundraising the playground will reach its full potential and when completed will provide the community of Bolton-le-Sands with a recreational area they can thoroughly enjoy and be proud of. Thank you to all who have contributed in any way to make this eagerly anticipated playground refurbishment possible.
